With the rapid development of the digital library, ditigal library portal is no longer a simple portal web site, it has been an integrated digital library platform which is open, distributed and platform-crossed. Portal system not only integrates various application systems, but also provides some functions such as process, restore and relase resources. At the same time, portal system is the entrance of ditaigal library for users, it should supply various services for user with efficient and exact method. Single sign on is a service that provide with portal, it is responsible for user authentication and authorization, so it protects the resource. Under the ideas of user-oriented, portal system also provides an important service named personalized which interactives with users.There are lots of resources in digital library portal, it is an important question that how to manage these resources and how to implement service integration and authorization among various uses, various resources and various application systems in order to utilize these resources effectively. SSO is a uniform user authentication management that portal provides, it ensures resource safety and avoid frequent user log in to the system.This paper analyze the requirement of SSO in the digital library, learn the latest new technology of SSO and design the SSO system based on CAS protocol that fits the requirement of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications. In addition, work out the user authentication method based on user type and implement it. At the same time, do the integration management for the digital library portal. The portal provided services include unified search, resources links, full text access, resources navigation, personalized service, teaching and research support, dynamic information, and so on. These services refer to user right, resource, personalized and system content management. Manage these services means to manage user right, resource, personalized and system content facts.
