Countermeasure Research On The Development Of Digital Library Integrated Retrieval System In China

With the development of storage technology and network technology, especiallythe development of the Internet, network has become the main service mode of libraryto query database. The number and variety of database which library purchased andself-built was increased and rich. However, each database has its own difference fromothers in data structures, retrieval mechanism, retrieval operation, the library system’ssoftware and hardware and overlapping in resources, made the retrieval of usersoverburdened. How to base on the perspective of users to establish one-stop retrievalto deal with multiple types of database resources, become one of the main problemsof the library. Cross-database retrieval system is the key to solve this problem.Integrated retrieval is an important part of digital library, Also known asrossdatabase retrieval, federated search, database retrieval, one-stop retrieval,distributed retrieval, etc. it is the retrieval system that regard heterogeneous datasources as object. The main purpose of this kind of system which provide unifiedretrieval interface to users is query different database and data source in a unifiedretrieval environment. Transform the user’s retrieval request into different datasources’ retrieval expressions; concurrently retrieve multiple distributedheterogeneous data sources on the local and wide area network, and then, integratedthe retrieval results, presented to the user in a uniform format after duplicateremoval and order.In recent years, the library information resources construction has been greatlydevelopment. On the one hand, buy a large amount of digital resources, on the otherhand, set up many characteristic databases. However, in this case, a lot of databasesthat structure used were not uniform, there were no universal standards andspecifications, unable provide a uniform data interface for large amounts of data. Itmade data cannot be Shared the retrieval, brought inconvenient to users. So, the studyof the library integration retrieval’s current situation is very urgent. This paperexplained the integrated retrieval system from four aspects: Firstly, discussed thedevelopment of integrated retrieval system, including the origin, overseas researchand domestic research of integrated retrieval system; Secondly, Introduced theconstruction situation of domestic integrated retrieval system, expounded thefunctions of the retrieval system in detail, and then listed several typical examples;Thirdly, from two Angle: construction ideas and construction technology to analysisthe problem of integrated retrieval system; Finally, put forward the development trendand the coping strategies of China’s integrated retrieval system.
