With the development of scientific technology and social economy, especially the rapid development of information technology, the connotation and extension of manufacture have changed profoundly. Shipbuilding industry, as a traditional manufacturing industry, has several characteristics such as technology density, labor density, capital denseness, complex craft and large-work quantity etc. Advanced manufacturing technology based on information technology is required in the shipbuilding industry.To implement scientific management in manufacturing process of enterprise, exploration and research on essential characteristics and operation law are required. According to the challenges faced by shipbuilding enterprises in current information society and problems frequently appearing in enterprise modeling, this paper points out that enterprise-engineering modeling is necessary, by using both the engineering-thinking and the theoretical-thinking. This viewpoint is based on engineering-modeling theory and advanced manufacturing pattern. Then this paper analyzes the distinguish and relationship between enterprise-engineering modeling and recognizing modeling. Based on the research on the technical framework which supports enterprise-engineering modeling, this paper analyzes the main key-technique and related relations in the framework of enterprise-engineering modeling. According to the research of project separateness technology, Petri net modeling technology, engineering control technology and enterprise model simulation verification technology based on the intermediate product oriented, the engineering model of Wu Chang Ship Yard's assembly logistics system which is taken as the research object is primarily established through the spot investigation and related analysis. This exploration of engineering modeling for shipbuilding enterprises laid a foundation for technology research and application.
