Pipeline leak detection technique plays an important part in the field of pipeline transportation. With the development of modern control theory and signal process techniques, the leak detection methods based on software are widely used because of its advantages such as high performance-to-price ratio, easy to update and good expansibility.Especially in our country, the above technique has become a leading measure which is used to detect leakage continuously. Now,new requests appear in the pipeline transportation field, such as higher position precision, detecting small leakage and lower false alarm ratio. The research on pipeline leakage detection and localization is carried out in this dissertation. The theses put forward SPRT to detect and locate small leakage.Unitary new information sequence generated after Kalman Filter processing can be used to be the input sequence of SPRT to satisfy the requests. Methods of judging and locating leakage are analysed. On the basis of suction wave method to detect pipeline leakage, the theses present that the method can be used to improve the positioning method of sequential probability ratio test. The influences of mean variation on SPRT are also analysed. Spot running has proved that this leak detection method based on SPRT can detect small leakage effectively and extremely diminish the occurrence of the false alarm. At last, Kalman Filter and SPRT algorithms are realized with virtual instrument software, LabVIEW.The programming modules can be directly used in the existing pipeline leakage real-time detecting system. It can cooperate to increase the reliability of the system.
