Although the true sense of the smart card has only a short history of more than 20 years, but the pace of development and its application expanding speed is amazing. The largest number of smart cards and the most widely used area is the mobile communication, with the 3G era, a variety of 3G networks based value-added services also came into being. As a TPM (Trusted Platform Module) in the netwok, USIM(Universal Subscriber Identity Module) also carry various value-added applications, such as popular SIMpass and E-purse applications.Based on Samsung's 16-bit RISC core smart card chip as a hardware platform and combine operating system theory, a information-based COS(Card Operating System) and a flexible UICC(Universal Integrated Circuit Card) platform is built. As a universal platform, it is feasible to manage different application dynamically.Secondly, aim at the industrial production process, a Card-Copy mechanism and the concept of Hash was introduced to assist the quality control.Major parts of my work are listed as follows:First, this thesis make the basic international specifications and chip manuals as inputing requirement and also combined with characteristics of the chip to complete the overall level of the COS architecture. In the light of the Linux operating system architecture design, the operating system will be divided into 3 layers and its inter-module has a strong independence.Second, on the basis of COS architecture, the detailed design is discussed from the bottom level to the top level. The key techniques of each particular layer are discussed in detail.Third, a Backup mechanism was introduced to secure the data while in the case of power down. In the instruction level test, the designed mechanism can secure the data in the case of 100,000 times power down.Fourth, a file system which combine tree and list data structure is designed to realize the dynamic storage management and support the USIM multi-application features.Fifth, point at the USIM multi-application features, a deleted-space-recycle mechanism is designed and the concept of file sharing is induced, which will further improve the file system and streamline the core.
