Research on wireless sensor network (WSN) has gravitated towards the application area over last years. Applications, such as Environmental Monitoring, Target Tracking and Safety Monitoring etc. have been developed one after another. How to test and verifing the correctness and reliability of these research results have become a meaningful issue. There are many simulation softwares that we can use to test and evaluate WSN protocols, but simulating the instability of the wireless link is hard and the effect of verifing is unsatisfied. The testbed of WSN can report the performance of protocols truly and accurately, so how to design and implement a testbed is becoming the key focus area of WSN.Firstly many test technologies of WSN are studied, then a component-based WSN testbed (ComWSN) is proposed and implemented. ComWSN arrange the system resources rationally and make different functional modulers for protocols, it has good portability and extendibility. Secondly, a expanded system is designed and implemented based on existing hardwares and the environment in our laboratory. The system , which is composed of a series of software and hardwares , can do compiling, running, collecting, noticing automatically. A Web-based interface is provided to make people use the testbed easly and conveniently. Thirdly, we test and evaluate Greedy-1 and Greedy-2 with the ComWSN, and then give the results and analysis. Furthermore, we implement a real-time voice sampling system based on ComWSN.Finally, we summarize our research work in the last chapter and a further research direction has been explored for future work.
