The winding machine is the special equipment for producing finned tube. However, the winding machines that made in China at present mainly adopt the half-machinery and half-manual operation mode, which is characterized by low efficiency, little specification and unstable mass. This operation mode can no longer meet the current needs of modern enterprises. It is very urgent to develop a new winding machine which has the functions of automatic processing and high-precision control. Automatic aluminum winding machine is an automatic accurate machine, which integrates some new technologies such as CNC technology, motor driver technology and PLC control technology and so on.In this paper, based on the cooperation project of Harbin University of Science and Technology and Harbin Environment Engineering Equipment Company, the Numerical Control (NC) system is constructed. This system aims at the particularity of automatic aluminum winding machine and combines the design idea of modern open NC system. Meanwhile, it uses the Industrial Personal Computer (IPC) as hardware, TRIO motion control card as control kernel, AC servo motor as driving components.At first, the total method design and hardware design of the winding machine NC system are finished. In the software design, it takes the full advantages of the Windows's software resources and uses the object-oriented programming language Visual C++6.0 as a development tool. This software can finish the development of NC software which has the functions of parameters setting, error diagnosis, machining position display, file management and so on. By using the software development tool of TRIO, motion control program is developed. The system is controlled and the parameter is set by using PID and feed forward compound control algorithm, which reaches an ideal control effect. Hydraulic system design is an important aspect of system realization automation in the total NC system. Some assistant functions such as automatic feeding and automatic unloading are realized by using PLC. This article also researches and realizes the communications of IPC and TRIO motion control card, and the OMRON PLC and TRIO motion control card.Based on the above analysis, this automatic aluminum winding machine NC system has many remarkable advantages, such as high automation, better performance, high reliability and powerful function. It can improve the production efficiency and automation level of the enterprise effectively.
