Study On The Service And Development Of Subject Information Portals In National Agricultural Library

Subject Information Portals(SIPs) serves as an effective navigation way to intensively supply related network information resources for special subject users. It may centralize subject information from different sources and help users to search different websites information through one portal. Such integration of information organization and individual services as well as various affixation services has been gradually become a high quality tool in network information development and utilization.Agricultural SIPs meets the needs of its users, achieves the reasonable development and integration for the out-of-order agricultural network information resources and supplies more pertinent information services to the society. It is an effective way for multi source information access in the network environment. And it has the real significance for playing the support and guarantee role for the network information in the innovation of agricultural science and technology.The paper adopts the methods of document research, information analysis, case study etc to have analyzed SIPs research, construction and development in and outside the country; studies domestic current status and development of SIPs services and users'needs; through international and national contrast study of SIPs, discusses innovation and development of agricultural SIPs services, modes etc; puts forward several suggestions for SIPs services according to characteristics and problems of SIPs in our country; and provides a case study for the current implementing SIPs. Main research results of the paper are as follows:1. The SIPs of National Agricultural Library pays more attention to the amity and individuality for the agricultural SIPs. There are abundant contents, abroad service scope and excellent quality.2. The users'needs of agricultural SIPs are various kinds and its use ratio increases annually. The construction of the agricultural SIPs should take its users at the first place, do well user research and resource renewal for a"one stop service"to its users.3. Put forward modes and contents of agricultural SIPs services innovation including agricultural SIPs plus e-science scientific research platform; building an individual information service system of agricultural SIPs by taking user as its center; innovation of in-depth content services, enlarged network information consultation services and remote education as well as service mechanism innovation etc.4. It concludes the main problems and characteristics of agricultural SIPs and discusses pertinent suggestions and countermeasures through contrast analysis. The paper has important reference value for better implementing'individual services'of our SIPs in Chinese agricultural sciences.It has significant meanings in making supporting and ensuring roles of network information into full play in the agricultural SciTech innovation and services.
