| Information Commons (IC) is a new information service model arisen from libraries in North America at the late 20th century and become an important trend in the development of libraries. IC makes the concept of library services undergone a qualitative change and makes the passive service become the active services, dynamic service. It not only improves the library as a service organization of service quality and efficiency, and enhances the content of the service. IC also enhances the library's core competitiveness and strengthenes competitive advantage in the face of competing with the modern information society. The construction of IC has become a symbol of a high level of the new century university library public service platform and management services. After that, Europe and the United States set off an upsurge of a IC library theoretical research and practical exploration. The research for IC also move into high gear in recent years at home. Library managers hope to innovative model of library services and the service concept through the IC.The author carried out the research of theory and practice of IC in virtue of the construction of Information Commons at the new campus library of Fudan University in 2008. In this thesis, the author analyses the necessity and feasibility of construction of IC for domestic academic university library based on practice. IC can innovate library service models and service concepts by The rational allocation of resources. The author also hopes to complement and perfect the theory about IC by study of construction of Information Commons and build the case model of IC conforming to the actual conditions of our country.In this thesis,the author discusses a variety of factors of construction of Information Commons.There are six chapters in the thesis. The first and second chapter composes the thesis's first part. In this part, the author expounds the survey of IC and related research and puts forward the research content, methods, and innovation. Then the author expounds the background of this theory and Research situation of theory and practice of IC and summarizes the concept of IC, structure, characteristics, etc.The second part is from the third chapter. In this part, the author discusses the relationship between IC and library from the IC origin, the importance of IC in teaching and scientific research, IC and information literacy, IC and learning theory research.The third part of the thesis is the fourth chapter. In this part, the author expands the construction details and the process of IC at JiangWan District of Library of Fudan University. This includes: the preparation phase of construction, primary design scheme of IC, the soft environment ideas of IC, resources system of IC, service system of IC, the total-quality management framework of IC,etc.The fourth part of the thesis is the fifth chapter. In this part, the author discusses that IC managers ran into many difficulties in the course of construction.The last part is the sixth chapter. In this part, the author summarizes the primary research and points out the shortages in this thesis. At the end of the paper,the author forecasts the future of the research on Information Commons. |
