Survey On The Service Status Of Information Commons In Eight University Library In China

Information Commons which rise in Europe and the United States university library at 1990's provides seamless integration of technology and services one-stop service model innovation, and gradually becomes an important trend of library development in 21st century. Her appearance, so the concept of library service, a qualitative leap took place, from passive to active service static and dynamic service change. This shift not only improve the quality and efficiency of library services, but also improve the service content, that is, the changing university library to meet individual user information needs and their sustainable development provides a new opportunity.Information Commons represents the development trend of foreign university library; it is advocating a new concept of interactive cooperation, which will impact development and service innovation in the entire library community dearly. The domestic IC theory and practice has gradually carried out in the university library in recent years, and is still at the initial stage of development. It mainly shows on the concept of translation and introduction, the more case studies and less system. Therefore, this paper investigates and analyzes based theory and practice of university library Information Commons at home and abroad, especially, research the IC service status of university libraries in different parts of internal, and make its services Factors and strategies to provide guidance for the design and use of university library Information Commons in China. In the thesis writing process, this article has done a lot of retrieval about IC Services in university library, and comprehensively uses of the site survey, chart analysis, user surveys, statistical and so on which processes detailed survey data.Thesis focused mainly in two aspects, firstly, Information Commons service is not traditional information services, but emphasize service model innovation, services environment to improve, service improvement and service concept to changes, so university library Information Commons is composed of the physical layer, virtual physical layer and support layer(service organizations, service specification and service evaluation system and so on), However, these services are one of the focuses of this research that are able to meet the needs of users or not. Secondly, to understand Information Commons practice situation in the internal university, the need for site analysis and field investigation; Meanwhile, in order to understand the user's service needs can be met or not, users must be conducted to research, comprehensive collection of user information and accurate analysis is a key factor to determine the status of IC services, correct choice of information gathering methods and information analysis is the basis for this paper. Therefore, the release of the questionnaire and recovery is not only the focus but also the difficulty of this article.Through theory and practice, this thesis has made some achievements:(1) Conducted a survey of the service status of IC in university library of China's mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan, study specific case, and come to the obstacles and factors of IC service in mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan. (2)Started from constructed model of the physical layer, virtual layer and support layer, hardware equipment in the physical space, software and resources and equipment in virtual space and demand for services in support space and other support space protection, proposed defect in the design and construction of information Commons of university library in our country.(3) By research and practice analysis about IC services of university library in the mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan, according to its existing obstacles on services, it proposes the issue and countermeasures should be noted on construction of Information Commons of university library in our country later.
