In recent years, the upgrading rate of train speeds up with railway developing. Locomotive, the only traction power of train, has upgrade especially fast from the ShaoShan series and DongFeng series, to the HeXie series. Faced with such quick rate of update, traditional training methods on locomotive crew can not adapt to the new situation, As a result, there is a need to develop a locomotive simulation teaching system for replacing the original training methods.Based on the need of teaching requirement on locomotive crew, we used Dongfeng 4B diesel locomotive as an example to study the circuit simulation system. Specifically, we mainly study following aspects: Based on analysis of the locomotive circuit, discussing about the feasibility of locomotive circuit working principle simulation using Petri-Net; then expanding the basic Petri-Net combined with the features of locomotive circuit, and summarized the incidence matrix and state transition equation of the expanded Petri-Net, test and verify its correctness in simulating the locomotive circuit; and then use this expanded Petri-Net modeling and simulating the whole locomotive circuit; finally, designing and achieving a prototype system based on the expanded Petri-Net..The usage of Petri Nets on the locomotive circuit simulating and modeling, is not only suitable to describe the network characteristics of the circuit, but also fit in expressing the characteristics of asynchronous concurrent of locomotive circuit, it will be applied more and more in the field of locomotive circuit simulation.
