10 Gigabit Ethernet Technology(10 GbE technology for short) is one of the latest network technologys.Not only it makes bits rate is 10 times than Gigabit Ethernet Technology,but also can make network system more compatible,its upgrade easier,performance more stable,tansmission distance longer and cost lower than Gigabit Ethernet Technology,so it has been applicated widely.The realization of 10 Gigbit Ethernet Technology in hardware benefits from progress of high-speed PCB technology and maturity of signal integrity theory.With the signal edge becoming steeper and bits rate becoming faster,signal integrity problems can not be ignored any longer.So it is needed for high-speed PCB designer to carry out special ways to improve the signal quality.The purposes of this research topic:On the one hand,the 10 GbE Technology is used to design 10 Gigabit Uplink Extended Card which is based on SFP+(Enhanced 10 Gigabit Small Form Factor Pluggable Module) optical transceiver module and high performance Physical Layer Chip,thus the bandwidth of Gigabit Switch can be extended to 10 Gbps.It can provide high-speed uplink channels and long distance transmission interface for Aggregation Layer,as well as having network become more flexible,efficent and cheap.On the other hand,according to the theory of signal integrity, schemes of impedance-matching for on-board layout are determined,therefore the integrity of high-speed signals is insured.The dissertation mainly include the followings:Firstly,through understanding and analzing the standard of Gigabit Ethernet Technology and its utility,key devices and chips are selected on considering the requirements of its performance,power,size,and price.Secondly,through using the theory of designing high-speed circuit,considering the actual needs,and making full use of Design Entry HDL which is one of Cadence Software Packages,the circuits of 10 Gigabit Uplink Extended Card has been designed, and its principle has been elaborated in detail.Thirdly,on the software platform of SpecctraQuest,IBIS(Input/Output Buffer Information Specification) simulation models are used in order to model critical circuits, appropriate schemes of placement and routing are made through simulating and analyzing of them. Finally,the function of the card and the signal waveforms are tested by Smart Digital Oscilloscope.The results of testing shows that 10 Gigabit Uplink Extended Card can work steadily on the Gigabit Switch,furthermore great low packets loss rate and good signal wareforms have proved that the research has reached its intended purpose.The results of simulation and analysis could be used as a reference in the high-speed circuit design in the future.
