Higher vocational education is the pertinent training according to the need of social vocational positions. It is directed by social employment and carried out for social vocational positions. Project-based teaching mode builds its course system on the basis of positional need and tasks and its content is the learning projects in action. Students can acquire knowledge and skills through the project accomplishment, which reveals the spirit of"career and learning combination".Computer Culture Basis is an introduction for non-computer majors of higher vocational colleges. Its teaching outcome is to train students as skilled computer operators and all-round managing talents in their own specialty. This thesis surveys project-based teaching mode from the perspectives of theory and practice.It is divided into four parts. Forward, the first part, analyses the characters of higher vocational educational in China and Computer Culture Basis as well as the existing problems in the current teaching state, introducing the present situation, method and meaning of research. The second part expounds the basic theories of project-based teaching: its connotation, its traits, main theoretic gist and presents the feasibility analysis of employing project-based teaching in this course for higher vocational education. The third part talks about putting the theories into practice of Computer Culture Basis, first analyzing the teaching sustaining tactics, teaching materials and teaching outcomes; then, according to the major of tourism as a main topic, dividing the main teaching content, namely, basic cyber-knowledge, Windows operating system, Internet base, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and FrontPage into six items: item one, cyber configure and management; item two, searching Liaocheng tourist information with Internet; item three, making the introductive materials of Liaocheng attractions with Word; item four, analyzing Liaocheng tourist market with Excel; item five, making the ad videos of Liaocheng attractions with PowerPoint; item six, producing Liaocheng tourist network with FrontPage; lastly, introducing the implement scheme of project-based teaching in Computer Culture Basis, describing the teaching experimental process in a tourism management class and also analyzing the teaching effect, which shows that the scores in the class are higher than average score and those in ordinary classes and the students are very satisfied with the experimental method, idea and form, and then become more interested in computer science, improving their abilities of self-tutoring, cooperation, communication and innovation. The last part surveys the advantages, the notable problems and the expectations of project-based teaching in Computer Culture Basis.
