Embedded Environmental Monitoring System And Development Of Application Software

Environmental influences are very important to the industrial production. The environmental parameters such as temperature and humidity have become the crucial factors which influence the quality of products. It is very important to monitor these environmental parameters effectively in many areas. In the paper we developed an environmental monitoring system on the use of embedded and wireless technology based on the analysis of user needs.With the development of technology, especially the breakthrough in the areas of computer and wireless network,the development of application system based on embedded system has won a great chance to develop. The low cost, various kinds of interfaces and high performance have made the embedded application system popularity. This dissertation aims at designing an environmental monitoring system which used in the field of manufacturing and storage. This software and hardware platform combines the function of data gathering and data processing. We can get the temperature and humidity information using the instrument with color LCD display on the spot. Also we can print data, alarm when abnormal, and real time graph display using the remote monitoring system in computer through the serial port, internet or wireless network.At present, most of the environmental monitoring system is developed by using of single chip, it is easy to design while the data capacity is small and the wireless function can not be achieved. Purchase the whole set of software and hardware means expensive and sometimes can not meet all the demands of customers. This paper focuses on the software development of an environmental monitoring system in PC. The embedded system was designed taking Samsung S3C2410x as the core and using the network technology of ZIGBEE, which can solve the problems, get the steady data and meet the need of customer.The frame design of the whole system is firstly introduced in this paper. The software designing idea and key points of all the modules in PC are discussed in detail on the main part of the paper. The focus is the development of PC software platform using Delphi. The software development period and cost can be reduced while maintenance enhanced by using of Delphi. User requirements can be well achieved with a friendly user interface. The software system includes login module, selection module, data query module, serial communication module, network communication module, user setting module. Based on the design idea, monitoring system software in PC can be quickly developed to meet the need of the customer. Test running is also implemented after software development, and all the expected functions are realized. Most of the modules is used in real production, and the operation is good.
