At present, the commonly adopted means in computer network communication is to run TCP/IP protocol on LAN or WAN. TCP/IP network hierarchical design, with each layer responsible for different communication function and adding the protocol information thereof when transferring data. However, the protocol information on the last layer of the running network is LAN protocol or WAN protocol, but not the information of TCP/IP protocol.For solving the said problem, the paper suggests a independent IP network transferring IP packet directly through transmission medium twisted-pair , analyzes the related working theory and Topology and designs a IP network adaptor applied to it.Based on the substantial research and proof on IP network adaptor in combination of analysis, design and experiments, PCI 9054 Special-purpose chip manufactured by PLX company, USA is selected to control PC interface of IP network adaptor, Transmission chip CY7B923 and Receive chip CY7B933 of Cypress semi-conductor company and FIFO chip CY7C453 of high speed low Power dissipation are adopted to constitute the data sending/receiving part of IP network adaptor, low price EP1C6Q240C8 FPGA chip of Cyclone Series produced by Altera is adopted for control part, in such way that the Circuit design are achieved respectivelyThe hardware language of the whole system is VHDL. The design and development of the whole hardware program is achieved on QUARTUS II 5.0 software development platform. By analyzing the working theory of IP network adaptor, the system can be divided into 3 functional modules:IP paket receiving control module, IP paket sending control module and control module, Circuit designing, code programming and simulation testing are carried out in sub-modules.Finally, Succession test and Function simulation are conducted on the IP network adaptor based on twisted-pair. In terms of the software, WinDriver is for developing hardware drive program and VC++ language is for developing network application program.This design is a brand-new attempt, the study of which is of great value in perfecting present TCP/IP Network Protocol and improving transfer rate of network data.
