Research And Implementation Of JMX/SNMP Protocol Adapter

Along with the rapidly development of computer network,network management system(NMS) become increasingly important and also more complex.More and more kinds of managed object is involved,meanwhile the concept of NMS has been changed,not only managing the equipment but also managing other IT resource such as enterprise application,business service.All of these make a great challenge to the traditional NMS based on SNMP architecture .JMX (Java Management extension) become the latest development trend and research aspect, it is of great realistic significance to the management of computer network.Along with the Java and J2EE being applied widely,the JMX techonology hold an advantage and application prospect on constructing new generation of enterprise network management system. For being compatible with the widely used NMS based on SNMP protocol,in the chapter for of the thesis,with SUN RI (Reference Implementation) and the analysis of the SNMP protocol,a SNMP protocol adapter is designed and implemented.Finally, a simple application which is used to monitor the performance of WebShpere Application Server is implemented based on the JMX/SNMP protocol adapter, it makes the WebSphere Application Server manageable to remote NMS based on SNMP protocol.
