Design And Implementation Of Fault Management In Integrated Communication Network Management System

With the fast development of telecommunication industry and network, the complexity of telecommunication networks improving every day, it becomes difficult to manage the network for the businessmen. TMN (Telecommunication management network) is proposed by ITU (International Telecommunication Union). TMN provides a solution to manage telecommunication network synthetically.This paper discusses the basic concept, management function and system structure of TMN. The analysis of the concept and function of the fault management system in TMN are presented, as well as introduction of the process of fault management. Then the paper designs the architecture of UEMC (Union Equipment Management Center) based on TMN.Combined to my research in the UEMC system, this paper focuses on the design and implementation of fault management in the UEMC system. Firstly, according to the definition of fault management in the architecture and function of TMN, the fault management system is departed into three layers: data collection layer, data analysis layer and data application layer. Every layer is analyzed and designed in this paper. Secondly, the emphasis and difficulty of fault management--alarm correlation analysis is discussed. In this paper, several methods that implement the alarm correlation are presented and compared. By analyzing the strongpoint and shortcoming of these methods, the combination of the rule-based method and data mining is used to implement the alarm correlation. And at the last, the module of alarm management in SCT (Service Client Terminal) is programmed applying the technology of software development.This paper is a summary of the achievement on my research and nearly one year's workings in UEMC project in DTTXD(DATANG TELECOM TECHNOLOGY XIDIAN UNIVERSITY) during the my graduate's period.
