With the development of enterprise informatization, businesses in an enterprise are becoming more and more complicated. One of the approaches to the informatization is to make full use of workflow technology. Because the technology of workflow has supported the automation commercial process, it became the necessary tool for combining the complex information of enterprise's environment and executing automatically on the service flow. The existed workflow management systems have the disadvantages, such as, limited integration ability, insufficient flexibility, poor inter-operations and the capabilties that satisfy the collaboration application in an enterprise.Traditional workflow techniques are mainly used to manage business processes within one organization. Along with proliferation of business requirement and progress of computer technology, it is necessary to research workflow collaboration application techniques, in order to implement process interactions among different organizations and achieve a common business goal. Workflow collaboration applications concern interactions among processes, and aims at automatic process invocation and information exchange for existing workflow processes. Since e-business and e-government are in rapid development nowadays, workflow collaboration application techniques will be widely applied, and they are emphasized in both industry and academia.Grid is the next generation of distributed computing technology, it makes all geographical distribution resources belonging to different organizations to organize a unified platform for the integration and sharing of resources. To this end, the grid will have the resources and functions into packaging in the form of services, known as grid services. Traditional workflow technologies cannot well adapt to the collaboration applications in multiple departments and multiple organizations. Grid services provide an approach to resolving this problem. Grid service is the single entity that can be encapsulated. It can also be published on the Internet as a function set. Its characteristics of dynamic and interoperability can resolve the problems in the workflow collaboration applications. Therefore, bringing web service technolgies into workflow management systems will have positive effects to the research and application of the workflow technologies. Grid service technologies have been used to implement workflow management systems under heterogenous and distributed enviroments in this dissertation. So the cost of system development can be reduced and the features of dynamic and interoperability can be reached. The convergence of Grid and Workflow Management has led to the powerful concept of Grid workflow, which is becoming the driving force of the next generation of collaboration application solutions.Petri net is an advance tool to describe asynchronies computing model, since that it has been studied in depth, and possess stability theory basis and analyses technology. As a graphics and mathematics modeling tool, Petri net provides a powerful modeling method for describing and researching the complex systems, which are parallel, asynchronous, distributional and randomness and so on. Therefore, we constitute a model of workflow process by Petri Net in this paper, which provide a distinctness graphic and make it easy to correct the workflow process. On the basis of above study, this paper analyzes the problems of grid environment workflow management system, and designs a QoS based grid workflow system. Besides, we improve the current Economics based grid service allocation model, and design an extended Economics based grid service allocation arithmetic, and introduce the theory model oh the arithmetic in details. At last, in the background of a collaboration application instance, we use some testing tools to test our designed grid workflow system and the improved grid service allocation model.
