Temperature Monitoring and Control System is a classic and widely used application in modern industry. However, for some certain special occasions, as the communication distance between the surveillance center and the surveillance subsites is so far and the surveillance subsites are dispersive, the construction cost will be so high to pave the special communication lines and equipment with wired communications. With the development and the application of embedded technology and network technology, more and more remote data acquisition terminals are being researched and developed with full combination of those two technology. Against the above background, the paper implements the remote data acquisition terminal based on ARM comparing the merit and demerit of the former remote data acquisition terminals. This terminal acquires data from A/D converter, and transmits the data with RS-232, display the data on LCD based on ARM7. With the access form of GPRS, the GPRS wireless data transmission module can access the internet through the GPRS network. Then the terminal can send information to the surveillance center or the mobilephone of the interrelated manager by short messages. The remote terminal of data monitoring and control would be widely used in the data acquisition of temperature and humidity monitoring, environmental protection and meteorology. This paper encompasses several major topics:1. The integration of hardware resource, it is able to fulfill the least system hardware resource requirements, including A/D, switching value, LCD(Liquid Crystal display), keyboard, GPRS communication module.2. Taking use of multiple task real-time operating system can arrange the tasks effectively, this project transplants the operating systemμC/OS- II, and implements the program of the slave-computer of the temperature monitoring and control system inμC/OS-II.3. This paper designed the serial port communication protocol of the temperature monitoring and control system. 4. The project takes use of GPRS to implement the human-machine-interaction by short messages.5. It implements the graphic display of LCD, and the interaction function of keyboard.From the above, the project builds a full-featured, real-time, reliable remote temperature monitoring and control system based on embedded system.
