With the emergence and rapid development of integrated circuits especially the system on chip SoC technology, a number of low-cost, high performance, low power consumption of new microprocessors the emergences, such as MIPS, ARM, etc. These high performances, high speed microprocessor of 32-bit can not only simplify the circuit board design, but also can exclusion remove high frequency communication noise and interference. In addition, communications technology has got great progress, which has jumped over first generation, second generation, and come into the 3G era. GPRS is a communication network which between 2 generations and 3 generations. It is not only a mature technology, but also has a wide cover area, while its high resource utilization, faster transfer rate, short access time , always online, fee by traffic and extensive support network communication protocol make it welcome in the communications. The emergence, development and use of these new technologies make it gradually replaced the past wired communications. It makes the applications of wired communications monitoring terminal based on embedded technologies more popular.In this paper, we take Samsung's S3C2410 processor as the platform and develop a minimal system include the power of the hardware module, clock module, reset the chip configuration, SDRAM memory design, Nand Flash design, UART, JTAG design. Then we need to design and add the appropriate external device. In this design we add a GPRS corresponding communication module, a display and a set of keys. We modify, cut, compile the Linux kernel, and then generate an ARM Linux for the S3C2410.This article designs a wireless monitoring system based on the GPRS for an overall. Then design the data terminal including hardware and software. Hardware, mainly design the core system and the communication module; software designing including protocol, short messaging, wireless data transmission network, dropped redial and Nand Flash erasing, reading and writing. Finally, making an embedded Linux operating system for the data terminal and with a Cramfs system.
