Ultrasonic examination is an important technology of nondestructive test. It is applied in many areas such as the industry of national defence and machinery manufacturing. Most existing portable ultrasonic flaw detection systems adopt micro-controllor or DSP. In this case, Software design usually complex, and it is difficult to reuse and transplant code, which lead to the inconvenient of upgrade and maintenance of systems. In recent years, the Embedded Technology get a wide range of applications in many areas, it has broad application prospects In the field of ultrasonic Technology of Nondestructive Test. This paper introduces a new portable ultrasonic flaw detection systems which integrate storage function. This program improve the ultrasonic flaw detector produced by Shantou Ultrasonic Instruments Institute. This program adopts the "ARM+FPGA" Hardware architecture and the linux OS, and it make up for the lack of storage function. In order to process high-speed ultrasonic signal, the system selects Cyclone-series FPGA and embedded processor S3C2410 produced by Altera and Samsung respectively. The former is used to be a buffer memory, which can transform high-speed data flaw to Low-speed data flaw which can be received by S3C2410. The latter process the data from FPGA model, and the linux OS is Transplanted to it. This system includes a circuit to produce strobe as well, it play an important role in data compression. At last, the data was stored into a High-capacity hard disk via USB, so that PC can read the data and rstore it to wave form.
