Oil and gas pipelines as a transport device now widely used in petroleum, petrochemical and chemical industry, have dominated the lifeblood of modern industry and the national economy. Thus, the oil and gas pipeline inspection has been given high attention in oil producing countries in the world. In the detection process, the pipeline inspection and test equipment calibration standard is very important, accounting for 65% of the test workload. Detection of foreign companies have built large-scale matching standard inspection station, but our country currently has no large-scale standard inspection station for undertaking of such devices. Therefore, this article relies on the program of 863 funded projects, "Oil and Gas Pipeline detector test and calibration standard key technologies" (Contract No. 2006AA092324), to develope a set of standard testing equipment to make the device of submarine ultrasonic detecting to be standard. The device makes it easy to calibrate the performance of each probe indicators in the original device before running, to complete the screening of the probe, to ensure the consistency of the selected ultrasonic probe. In addition it can help our quantitative analysis of different media, temperature and other environmental impact factors on the ultrasonic probe properties parameters such as the impact of the resolution, on this basis, we can develop appropriate standards as the basis for the selection of the probe.In the design process of such set standard test equipment, we first determined the performance parameters of the ultrasonic probe, according to the need of the project. Second, considering the actual condition, we designed a standard test equipment for calibration test stand, including tanks, defect test block and the ultrasonic probe ring. Calibration test bench can be used to simulate the testing environment in the field, such as medium temperature, the medium difference, the wall thickness of grease. In the design of data acquisition system in ultrasound device, according to the difficulty of data acquisition, we combined hardware with software to solve the problems of the synchronous data acquisition, storage and other issues of the online ultrasonic thickness data. In this device, in accordance with the actual characteristics of applications, we selected FPGA and accompanied with the corresponding amplifier, to design an ultrasonic transmitter. The circuit is versatile, practical, with simple circuit structure and low cost. In this paper, we choosed the NI PCI-5105 data acquisition card, which is a synchronous sampling with 8-channel high-density digital instrument of the LABVIEW to complete the echo signal acquisition. In this paper, LABVIEW software made full use of wavelet transform algorithms, efficiently compressed data on the ultrasound to speed up the data processing and transmission speed. Finally, relying on the project, we proposed a set of pipeline corrosion damage evaluation method, and used the NI Measurement Studio to bridge LABVIEW and MATLAB, location data and time data. The final structure of corrosion and pixel correspondence between the completion of pipeline corrosion, achieved the visualization of ultrasound data.After a large number of experiments, it finished the defect echo of data processing, the completion of the defect identification, location and determined using the methods proposed in the article. This device researched and developped oil and gas pipeline inspection technology standard test equipment, has a great significance to set up our own standard inspection stations, to improve the detection of components and assembly equipment reliability and accuracy, to form a suitable test of China's oil and gas pipelines standards development, to promote testing equipment series and the production, and to promote the improvment and innovation of China's pipeline testing technology. And the long term, its economic benefits are considerable.
