Parser And Distribution Of Streaming Media In IPTV

Internet Protocol Television(IPTV) can afford interactive browsing operations such as Time Shift TV and Video On Demand (VOD), which is different from traditional TV services. As a representative service which is closely bound up with Network (Telephone network, Computer Network and CATV network) Convergence, the streaming media service of IPTV attracts both Telecom Operators and Television Operators. IPTV is based on some key technologies, including video compression, real-time transport protocols and content distribution network (CDN).The paper analyses CDN of IPTV system firstly. CDN can support various IPTV services such as VOD and Live TV. CDN usually takes distributed architecture in field deployment, so as to improve the efficiency the symmetrical load greatly.IPTV system makes high requirement of network resource. There are two storage modes when deployed: file based and segment based. The media server suffers from high load and provides terrible service with traditional file based mode. Segment based mode can support more flexible content switch strategy, optimize the symmetrical load and improve rapid reply capability.On the basis of previous research, the design and implementation of a streaming media parser module with segmentation function is given out, which is the key point of the paper. The parser module can support the most common media format in IPTV system. It can segment the source streaming content into blocks while processing ordinary parser and analysis. After analyzing specific function and composition of the module, the framework architecture and each sub-module is designed in detail, the interface and basic data structure is also discussed. At last the implementation of TS and PS streams parser sub-module is focused on. In addition, some running instances of the parser module are also shown.
