Beijing Unicom Streaming Media Platform Expansion And Renovation Project Design

The Streaming Media Platform of Beijing branch of China Unicom Company has been operated and constructed for a few years. A clear developing idea of the internet broadband media application for the future has been found. Its purpose is to provide all functions of media application for public users such as content aggregation, content management, content distribution (VoD, live and download), and content charging (copyright management, etc.). All of these can ensure the increase of both the incoming and the number of the broadband users.To achieve the goals of the business development, the Streaming Media Platform, which supporting most audio and video contents in service, has to face a higher request. The ability of service, the business management, and the using of new technology are all the requirements for the development of the platform. So the expansion and optimization of the platform is becoming the prerequisite for the business development. Through this expansion project, the broadband users can get the high definition VoD, live and download services. The uers also can use the different terminal equipments to watch the media content. In the same time the management of the services is possible. By the means of technology, the platform can provide the different services for the different users which have the dissimilar access conditions.The current situation of the platform has been well studied in this technical scheme. The network construction and the importing of new technologies are also considered. For the expansion and optimization of the platform, this scheme put the predictable views in the following aspects:the content management, the media service, the storage system, and the content distribution. This paper focuses on the optimization of the content management and the construction of the content node. The reasonable expectations of the project implementation are also given in this paper.
