It is inevitable that Digital TV will take place of analog TV. Digital Television Terrestrial is fond of people for its wonderful mobile receivable capability. These years, Digital TV Terrestrial Broadcasting is in great progress in the whole world, and many countries are zealously developing the Digital TV Terrestrial Broadcasting systems, so does China. Digital TV, which using the multiplexing technology, can provide several times more programs and services to viewers than analogue TV. Thus how to promptly find the program and information which the viewers need among a huge amount of broadcasted programs is the key problem that must be solved by Digital TV applications imminently. Electronic Program Guide (EPG) is just the application for viewers to get the information they need and is running on the Integrated Receive Decoder.The EPG system is designed on the Digital Video Broadcasting-Terrestrial receiver, by deeply researched on the DVB-T standard. The key technologies of the EPG system include the receiving and parsing of the EPG information, the design and the implementation of the storage structure of the EPG database, and the On Screen Display technology.The EPG information is transported by the Service Information specified by the DVB-T standard. The Transport Stream, binding with the Service Information and the program's video and audio information together, is transmitted to the receiver by the terrestrial microwave. By a deep analysis of the structure and function of the Service Information, a normal flow is giving for parsing the Service Information and getting the EPG information.After a comparison of several storage structures, a net structure which mixes the advantages of the normal Tree structure and the Binary Tree structure is designed and this structure which is implemented in static linked list fits the embedded system quite well.Besides, week forecast of the broadcasted programs, programs serching, program hopping, reservation, and parental locks are also implemented in this EPG system.
