Design And Implementation Of Remote Management Function Module In Residential Gateway

With the progress of the internet technology, the digital home network is developing fast and has pervaded common household. Various kinds of residential network terminal equipment appear. As a result, for the sake of release the administration burden on the telecommunication operating enterprises, how to complement the interconnection of the residential equipment and complement the remote auto configuration is the critical problem of the equipment producers.Therefore, DSL Forum constitutes the CPE (Customer Premise Equipment) WAN management protocol in 2004 to administrate the terminals from the WAN side, which is described in the technical report document TR-069 in details. This protocol reduces its complexity of the implementation through involving plenty of mature web technologies. It can not only complement the auto-configuration and dynamic service provisioning, the updating of the software and the firmware, but also can monitor the status and the performance of the equipment and then diagnose the errors of the equipment. It solves the problem that a lot of equipment need to be managed and results the easier disposition of the equipment and fast business deployment. First, this article analyzes and introduces several technologies of remote administration of the residential network equipment to present the superiority of the CPE WAN management protocol. Secondly, this article presents the DSL Forum's overall auto-configuration framework and the position of TR-069. The protocol hierarchy and the operating principle are also described. Based on these, this article proposes a designs plan to the VoIP residential gateway, and introduces several important function modules of the design. At last, this article designs some test cases to validate the conformance of the implementation. The test results illustrate that the implementation fulfills the requirement of the TR-069 protocol completely.Consider of the superiority of TR-069 at equipment management, the network equipment must widely support it in the future. Therefore, it's significant to study the implementation of the TR-069 protocol. This article can be a reference when implementation the TR-069 protocol in other equipment owing to the versatility, expansibility and the portability of the design.
