Nowadays, news websites have become the major force of the media family, it is necessary to make study on its characteristics. And the United States, as the birthplace of the Internet and the first news websites, has been in leading position as a world leader in the development of news websites.Throughout this paper, the author chose some typical news websits in U.S,and made them research object.From their forms to contents,the author has made some analysis and summarization. In the pages that follow, the insider perspective behind America news websites will be illumed through the developing stages, news features, business strategies, management strategies and so on.This paper is divided into six chapters . the first chapter is about reseach goal and methods .The second chapter is based on the development of American news websites, from the definition to the birth backgrouds, as well as classification of the developing stages. Chapter III is an inspection of news content,including some of the main characteristics, they are: fast - aging fast, rolling broadcast; wide - wide scope, large content; new - various forms ; and unique - distinctive personalities. Chapter IV is about business strategy of different types of news websites,mainly discuss the profitable concept and marketing strategies of different news website operators. Chapter IIV focus on the management strategies of America website from a macro perspective.
