Wireless mesh network(WMN) is a new kind of broadband wireless networking technology.WMN is evolved from Mobile Ad Hoc Network, and has some properties such as self organization and self-healing, it show great advantages in flexible networking, improving network coverage, increasing network capacity, cutting down on prophase investment and so on. To be a optional solution of "Last Kilometer",WMN has attracted world-wide attention of academia and industry.WMN consist of two kinds of nodes: mesh routers which form the backbones of WMN and mesh clients which associate with mesh routers to access networks. Mesh routers have minimal mobility and more complete functions, so WMN can integrate various networks, and is easy to expand.As a complex hybrid heterogeneous network, an effective network management should be run to keep good interconnect between mobile client in WMN. mobile client can free roam in wireless network, so mobility management is one of the important contents in wireless network management protocol. Especially in most IP-based network, to support fast address query and transparent mobility management is always the key problem of wireless network management.Research in this paper is mainly about mobility management protocol in WMN.first,the characteristics and architecture of WMN were introduced and a compare between WMN and Ad hoc was gived.Second,base on the analyses of existing mobility management protocols in wireless network, a protocol work with P2P mechanism was proposed. With a modified Kademlia algorithm, the backbone of WMN could be formed into a P2P network, then the mobility information of mesh clients could be auto registrated,updated and fast queried. There would be several backup for the mobility information of one mesh client in P2P network, so the problem of single point failure could be eliminated. The binding messages of mesh clients were published directly into P2P network, and then the triangle routing problem brought with home agent could be avoided.Last,The P2P mobility management protocol was tested in NS2 simulation experiments, the data analysis show that the protocol can provide better routing performance, without significantly influencing mobility switch time delay, and show better network topology flexibility.
