The web-based teaching platform is built on the network which is constructed through modern information technology and modern educational theory. It is a software system which provides comprehensive support services for long-distance network teaching. With the wide implementation of web-based teaching, people pay more and more attention to the development and use of web-based teaching platform. However, most of the existing full-featured large-scale web-based teaching platform has some defects. For example, they are difficult to use and have high demands for server and client, low efficiency, insufficient flexibility. All of these limit its widespread use to a certain extent. The design of the platform is based on the theory of teaching and learning interaction of network, collaborative learning based on network and the design of teaching and learning system. The self-design and development of the platform is integration of efficiency, ease of use, practicability which greatly meets the needs of specific courses. The upgrade and expansion is more convenient. It can effectively control costs and has good flexibility and practicality. The tool of course development is the core of web-based teaching platform. It designs fourteen functional modules which include course description, teacher profiles, teaching plans, teaching programs, lesson plans, e-textbook, downloadable resources, course video, experimental guidance, homework, Q & A room, group collaboration, online testing, evaluation and feedback. Teachers need to do nothing but select from these modules and input teaching materials to web page model according to teaching functions. System software can organize all the materials automatically to form an integrated web-based course. Diversiform teaching activities which include three types: browse, evaluation and interaction can be carried out smoothly in published courses. It overcomes the defects of traditional web-based course, for example, the lack of support of collaborative learning, teaching and learning interaction and evaluation and feedback. The development environment is Microsoft Visual Studio. NET 2005 and programming language is Visual C#. It uses the technology of ASP.NET, ADO.NET, SQL Server 2005, XML and Ajax. Based on the B/S mode of multi-layer architecture, it is easy to achieve the compatibility of heterogeneous databases.
