Major projects are generally large in scale which needs huge investment. Due to the far-reaching impact from its decision-making and construction on the overall national or regional economic and social situation, reporting of major projects is always an important task for the media. However it has been a very difficult area to innovate for a long time. With the development and progress of the society, there's a need for innovation in reporting of major projects, changing traditional matter-based model as to take further steps on media supervision and information disclosure on the project's decision-making and construction. By studying the reporting of Hangzhou Bay Bridge from Ningbo's traditional media including newspapers, radio, television as well as the new media, such as internet, the paper summarized four points of innovation: "to consider the information needs of the audience ", "innovation in perspective of reporting ", "the changing of format of reporting, innovation reporting model ", and "to show the spirit of the times and the local geographical characteristics ". From the three points above, the paper analyzed ways of innovation including the shifting of perspective from "matter-based " to "people-oriented", from "government action, promote authoritative information" to "strengthen communication with the public and humanization of reporting ", and other ideas such as" to show the local geographical characteristics, to reveal the spirit of the city". The paper set forth three major aspects of the innovation in concept and format of major project's reporting to improve audiences acceptance and effect of communication: "people -oriented, innovation in dissemination of ideas ", " Interact with the audience, innovation in format of reporting," and "focusing on planning, pursuing the effect of communication". I hope media from China could draw some inspiration from my paper and achieve greater success in the reporting of major projects in future.
