The Development And Application Of A SOA-Based PLM System

Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) is an important philosophy, methods and techniques of management in the field of manufacturing industry today. PLM not only involves the design and development of product, but also covers every phase of manufacturing, sales, maintenance and recovery of products. It includes the management of relevant process and resource as well as the product itself. China has a massive manufacturing industry in the world, and its IT application and industry upgrading of enterprises are at the important stage. It's out of question that PLM is a development propellant of the manufacturing industry in China and will be of great practical significance for promoting the productivity of our manufacturing industry.PLM system is an information system used to manage the lifecycle of enterprise products. It is one of the most essential information system used by manufacturing enterprise. PLM system can be composed of a number of subsystems and it also need to be integrated with other systems. With the expansion of the scale and development of the business, the requirement is becoming mandatory to integrate between PLM and other applications both inside and outside the enterprise, as well as between the various subsystems of PLM, and service-oriented architecture (SOA) have natural advantages in meeting this requirement. Therefore, the research and development of SOA application in PLM is of great significance.The main contributions are as follows: First of all, this paper introduces the current situation of PLM at home and abroad, expands on the PLM related theory, does research in the main theory and technology of SOA. Then, it analyzes in great detail the advantage of SOA's application in PLM, gives the architecture of integration of PLM and SOA, and do case studies in the light of actual conditions. Finally, this paper designs and performs EBOM's updating in PLM system based on SOA architecture and related technology. At present, the realization of this paper to update EBOM has been applied in PLM system of enterprise, and run well.
