Engineers are always trying to find out a better solution to solve the two big IT problems: one is how to reduce the cost and make full usage of current investment according to the integration. The other is how to change the system quickly following the fast changes on business. A new solution: Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) is coming into vogue. SOA is component model. It inter-relates an application's different functional units, called services, through well-defined interfaces between these services. This architecture makes the integration across different platforms easily. SOA is helpful on making use of the current investment, reducing complexity of the system and decreasing the cycle times for development and deployment.Service-Oriented Architecture Design (SOAD) is about how to design a system base on the SOA. It is a mixed technique composed with some other techniques like Object-Oriented Architecture Design (OOAD), Business Process Model (BPM) and Enterprise Architecture (EA) etc. Sometimes Meet-in-the-middle processes will be used on SOAD.At first of this document, the writer has done deeply research on SOA theory and the status of its development around the world. Based on the thoroughly analysis of SOA, a practical modeling method and design process are discussed.Then the writer analyses the existing problems and user requirements in Proposal system that is used as a prototype. Analysis and design the system model of the Proposal system using the method of SOAD. The value of the SOA is approved according to the design and implementation.The Proposal system is reengineered according to the system model at last.The implementation of the prototype makes us to understand the SOAD more deeply and clearly.
