The Multiple Roles Of Governmental Spokesperson

This paper studies on the system and identity of spokesperson both in and abroad the country, and focused on clarifying the concept and multiple roles of the spokesperson. It tries to observe and analyze the identity of the spokesmen in the governmental departments in the present Chinese modern society, and to explore the multiple roles of the spokesmen. By analyzing the reasons of the formation of these multiple roles of the spokesmen in China, this paper provides the effective ways of balancing these roles. Moreover, it can be used as a reference for governments at different levels to improve the roles of spokesmen, and to make it more qualified to be the agents, information mouthpieces, news guides and the highly focused people for the Party and the Government.The references of this paper not only come from researches of domestic scholars but also many overseas studies on spokesperson. Also, some of them are original materials from foreign researches on systems and identity in English. These are of great help to this paper's study and make it more creative to some extent.Besides the literature part in this article, as the author has been working in the news and media area in the government for a long time, she has much experience and sophisticated knowledge by communicating with and taking part in practical activities in the work. She also conducts many interviews and field work to apply theories into practices. More special is that, in this paper, the author also uses interviews, real investigations in the field in Shanghai to contact directly with the spokesmen, reporters, governmental officials and social representatives to explore the more effective mode of spokesmen in China.
