| As the third sector in addition to the government and enterprises, Non-governmental organization (NGO) in western countries have reached a mature state of development. In modern society, they play a role in resolving social problems which is difficult to solve only relying on government forces or the market mechanism. Through the traditional development mode of "strong state, weak society", China's non-governmental organizations has made rapid progress under the background of the reform and opening up and the establishment of sound market economy. At the same time, the relations between government and society transform to "small government, big society" model. In the news media industry, non-governmental organizations play an important role in strengthening news industry self-regulation, safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of journalists, promoting international exchange and cooperation and so on. This paper based on analysis of the content and function of the News media NGO, investigated the status and problems of China's news media NGO comprehensively, and proposed suggestions for the development of China's news media NGO.This article based on in-depth analysis in domestic issues and the defined theoretical content of non-governmental organizations of foreign researchers, proposed the definition of news media NGO that refers to various news media organizations, which doesn't seek to make a profit as a goal. News media NGO is independent of government departments but it serves news media workers, governments, enterprises and audience. Firstly, this article investigated the main types of foreign news media NGO and their role in the process of journalism. Secondly this paper analyzed in-depth of the development of status and problems of china's news media NGO. Though research, this paper found that the news media NGO development in China started slow, small scale, administrative and "government society confused". In addition, there exited outstanding issues such as the low level of public participation and the news media NGO lack of capacity-building. In the Countermeasure analysis section, the paper based on the actual situation in China and development experience of foreign news media NGO, proposed a number of suggestions to promote the healthy development of China's news media NGO:government transform functions further; news department clear responsibilities with news media NGO; improving relevant legal and policy system, providing legislative protection for the news media NGO; strengthening capacity building of news media NGO and improving its system; learning the successful operation experience form foreign news media NGO. |
