With the rapid development of logistics industry, traditional third-party logistics (3PL) can no longer efficiently deal with the information sharing and resource integration. This problem calls for the new fourth-party logistics (4PL). To build 4PL management system based on 3PL, how to implement the automatic information interaction between 4PL management system and these heterogeneous 3PL systems has become the new significant problem to be resolved.This paper proposes a web service integration platform resolution for the problem. In the platform, the information resources and software system of each 3PL are treated as a web service that will be encapsulated according to the service contract and metadata models. At last, this paper implements a series of service invoking interfaces. Remodeling the key data structure of logistics domain according to SCG and the features of 4PL, and designing service contacts for different service providers based on the new data models; unifying the development standard and security mechanism of web service—using the WS-Security 1.1 security standard of OASIS, adding username/password authentication, digital signature, and encryption information to SOAP messages; implementing the submit, edit, and automated gain of web service from web service register; encapsulating a series of web service invoking interfaces, and implemented a 4PL management system which only needs the context parameter to automatically invoke the different kinds of web services provided by 3PL—the automatic invoking procedure is consisted of four steps: the key words based web service inquiry, the wsdl4j and castor based WSDL dynamic analysis, the saaj based SOAP dynamic encapsulation, and the jdom based SOAP reply message analyzing.As a summery, this paper proposes and implements a new automatic information interaction mechanism between 4PL management system and heterogeneous systems. It also provides some meaningful value for the development of service oriented architecture and the construction of 4PL management system.
