Optical cable transmission system has been widely used in PSTN. With the rapid development of SDH technology and DWDM technology, optical cable transmission system is not only adopted in inter-provincial transmission network Route land Route 2, local area network and the Urban Network , but also is quickly extended to the MAN broadband users access network systems. It has been an international hot spot that is the entire General OAN business broadband communication can integrate all kinds of information.For such a large-scale optical cable network, how to manage and maintain effectively becomes a very important problem, but the traditional optical cable network maintenances mainly rely on artificial means. With the development of computer technology, optical cable transmission network computer monitoring system combines optical cable testing technology and computer network technology effectively, and achieves the monitoring and management of optical cable route network automatically and is suitable for operating environment and maintenance system in current optical cable communication system. It has great significance no matter in social or economic benefits. Optical cable transmission network computer monitoring system is combination of computer network technology and telecommunications transmission technology using computer and communications technology and optical cable character testing technology, also it is an automatic monitoring system that can collect and process and store status information by long-distance distributed real-time monitoring in optical cable transmission network.The constitution design of optical fiber monitoring network and the architecture design of computer data transmission network in automatic monitoring network system are mainly researched to be achieved in the cable transmission network in the subject and the corresponding principles of system constitution and main features of software and hardware are presented. According to the optical fiber working situation of optical cable transmission network, automatic monitoring system can't affect and interfere with existing communication systems and transmission monitoring equipments. On the basis of online real-time, periodic monitoring principles in the existent optical transmission routes, three optical fiber schemes of different circumstances (optical power on-line monitoring, alarm monitoring of optical terminals, optical fiber power monitoring)and WAN computer schemes of data transmission are designed and demonstrated their feasibilities.
