Work measurement and motion analysis belong to the important methods of providing higher work efficiency, safer performance, more comfortable environment as well as better work quality. Carefully designed work flow can sufficiently improve working efficiency, through removing unnecessary work steps, eliminating redundant operating progresses, and so on.This thesis discussed a whole work analysis system, based on virtual reality technologies like hybrid motion tracking, motion simulation as well as feedback. The system comes from a basic motion analysis platform consisting of optical motion tracking and view simulation technologies. Improved performance, increased new functions, and expanded sub systems of the work analysis basic platform are included.The motion capturing modules before had disadvantages such as relatively lower precision, too complex calibration process of cameras, etc. Targeting at these problems, this paper adds the adaptable searching parameters and human kind size checking functions, designs the static calibration process, and discusses the feasibility of distributed calculation for motion capturing process. Digital glove are employed for capturing hands'gestures.Wider applications of the work simulation system in practice require that various virtual scene models could be imported, and certain level of interaction between digital manikin and the objects in virtual scene can be realized. Thus, functions of adding into / eliminating objects from virtual scene, together with manipulating objects through collision detection are provided. Besides, optimal methods of transporting popular CAD models into simulation system are given. Mankind hand models are made to support digital glove, meanwhile the simulation method of hand models is discussed. Movement of digital manikin is synchronized with real action of worker, and more complicated work actions could be accomplished in the new virtual environment defined by users. In order to improve the immersion effects as well as the realistic feeling, and to supply more subjective work flow evaluation factors, the feedback sub system provides three basic types of feedback functions: visual, acoustical, and vibration. Interactions between the digital manikin and various elements in the virtual environment are basically realized.The work analysis system, including above mentioned three sub systems, has now better usability and functionality, by improving performances and expanding functions. The work analysis system can track the movement of worker in real time, consisting of gestures of main part of human body as well as fingers; data are stored for further analysis; real movements are simulated synchronized on PC by digital manikin in a virtual environment online, meanwhile a set of interaction options are provided; information of the interactions is feedback to worker.Combining the motion tracking, simulation in virtual reality, and feedback, work flow engineer could shorten the design period, evaluate the design more effectively, and optimize the work design, etc. Furthermore, based on the basic virtual reality technologies platform provided by this system, extra assignments, for instance product design visualization, work flow subjective evaluated by worker himself, among others, could be performed. With the advancement of technology development and improvement of hardware, the work analysis system will in the future gain more usages in manufacturing industries.
