Motion capture is used to measure, track and record real humanmotion information by sensors, which can be translated into abstractmovement data. In recent years, a lot of techniques on motion capturesare researched both at home and abroad, many methods of motioncapture increasingly improve, and the corresponding motion capturesystems are more and more widely applied. At the same time, thetraditional motion capture data are mainly used to drive virtual characteranimation, and recreate real human body movement. Now the motiondata capture is widely applied in increasingly diverse fields, such assports, entertainment, intelligent control and etc. This article discussessome modes and researches the corresponding applications based on theoptical and the mechanical motion capture. In terms of optical motion capture, we use the Kinect motion-sensingcameras to obtain3D depth information in the observation range, thentranslate into human body skeleton information, and carry on the humanbody skeleton tracking. The presented system can analyze and recognizethe human body posture and gestures, and transform into control signal. It can apply to the systems for virtual campus roaming and smart homecontrolling. By building virtual campus roaming system, the Kinectmotion capture data can drive the virtual human to roam in the virtualcampus. By constructing the smart home system, the Kinect motioncapture data can be translated to control signals for smart homecontrolling. In the aspect of mechanical motion capture, we mainly analyze twokinds of inertial measurement units of MTI and Razor IMU. In theinformation retrieval system based on MTI, the motion analysis offreestyle skiing aerial skill can be applied, and furthermore can be used to reproduce the3D animation to aid sports training. The Razor IMUwith9degrees of freedom sensor can be analyzed, and combined withUnity3d to build the simulation system of human motion. It canpreliminary be applied to explore the human motion analysis.
