The application of reverse engineering in the development of automobile strips is a new application research. It has two major problems:①the CAD model reconstruction of automobile sealing strip;②the manufacturing of automobile strip sample and rapid samples pouring by silicon rubber mould.UG software has powerful function in creating curve and surface, certain function of CAD model reconstruction. But it is lack of the modular of cloud-points data pre-processing, the ability of reconstructing CAD model is also limited. The ability can' t satisfy the requirement of CAD model reconstruction of automobile sealing strip. Imageware is professional software of reconstructing CAD mould, but it' s too hard to master the operation. So the paper puts forward the topic that further develop the mould of CAD model reconstruction in UG platform by VC++6. 0. it raises the precision and efficiency of CAD model reconstruction by UG software.After getting the CAD model of automobile sealing strip, we make automobile strip samples by FDM technology and pour products of sealing strip with the silicon rubber mould made by automobile strip sample. We raise product quality by improving technology and optimizing technology parameter. The quality is qualified. It is proved that it is feasible to use reverse engineering to design automobile sealing strip.The major research works of this paper are as follows:1. Study how to use Imageware to reconstruct the CAD model of automobile sealing strip.2. In order to raise the reconstruction precision and efficiency by UG software, further develop the mould of CAD model reconstruction in UG platform by UG/OPEN API, UG/OPEN GRIP, UG/OPEN Manuscript,UG/OPEN UIStyler and VC++6. 0.3. Study the parameter Installation of using FDM technology to make automobile strip sample.4. Study how to make silicon rubber mould and pour the product of automobile sealing strip with silicon rubber mould.
