With China's entry into the WTO, Our country has gradually become the center of sewing equipment manufacturing and selling. The embroidery industry which occupied a very important position in the sewing equipment industry also gained rapid development. China's embroidery machine production has taken up 70 percent of global production. However, China's embroidery machine industry still faced with many problems in the process of development. On one hand is the product structure and quality, China's embroidery machines are mainly medium&low of quality. There's a big gap compared with advanced machines of abroad companies in term of noise, embroidery quality, efficiency, product life and maintenance. On the other hand the technology strength and innovation ability, there are few domestic companies that are able to produce the controller which is the embodiment of the core technology of embroidery machine, and can't compete with international enterprises because of the inferior technological strength and innovation capabilities. Also there is a lack of effective competition among domestic providers.In response to the above circumstances, this paper analyzed the working principle and the control methods and features of the current mainstream embroidery machines. Based on the research of the low speed industrial embroidery machine which is a previous project of the institute, a high speed embroidery machine controller is designed. The controller is based on hard real-time embedded operating system WindowsCE 5.0, and the 32-bit RISC (reduced instruction-set computer) architecture ARM9 processor S3C2440A is adopted as the main control chip. The MAX II family CPLD EPM1270 is used as the interface chip. The embroidery machine aims at high-speed and high-quality. The spindle is driven by servo motor, the X / Y-axis is driven by step motors, USB and Ethernet interfaces are included and special embroider interfaces are reserved. High-resolution color LCD, touch screen and rich features make it easy to operate.This paper is composed of seven chapters, the first chapter is about the subject background, embroidery machine development status and key technologies; Chapter II completed the needs analysis, hardware and operating system selection and project planning; Chapter III completed the overall system hardware design and focused in the drive system, CPLD unit, the main control panel design and the distribution of all kinds of resources; Chapter IV completed the overall framework of the software design and relevant design features on the basis of analysis of WinCE , the project development process based on it, and the environment configuration. Chapter V is mainly focused on driver and motion control module, the development of step motor driver is used as an example of the stream driver development process and related technical points. Chapter VI designed an internal pattern file format and completed the corresponding tests. The final chapter is a summary of this project and its prospects.In this paper, not only the entire development process of the embroidery machine controller based on ARM and WinCE5.0 is studied and analyzed in detail and in depth from the aspect of project research and development and software engineering, but also from specific hardware design, resource allocation, software coding, driver development, motion control and pattern file processing, and many other aspects. The work of the project has good reference value and practical significance for the high-speed, high-grade embroidery machine development, and has a positive impact on upgrading the competitiveness with foreign enterprises for domestic embroidery machine industry in the high-end market. It will indirectly increase the national brand value and change the situation in our country of monopoly of embroidery machine controller production by few companies, and enhance benign effective competition.
