Educational Management System Design And Implementation Based On Web Services

The development and popularity of the information technology, particularly the network system, has accelerated the information process among the major colleges and universities. In this aspect, there is no exception with the continuing education. The special features of continuing education result in distinctive problems at the management level. Compared with the general education, it is more challenging to develop a unified management practice and repetition work has become a common problem as there are more teaching distribution points and it is more complex and tedious to manage the students. Meanwhile, although many institutes have already achieved the information management, upgrading maintenance difficulties and issues such as cross-platform operation are areas to be tackledThis paper studies how to achieve information for Continuing Education Management System of Shandong University, With the Web Services technology, formed the architecture of the system based on Web Services. Based on the existing academic user management processes, in full communication with the customers, by integrating the advanced development technology and database technology, a basic system framework model has been formed, along with the establishment of the whole package of function models of the education administration system by using advanced system architecture model and object-oriented (OO) design method. On this basis, each functional model has been under a detailed analysis and in accordance with the actual needs of each subsystem, a data model and database tables have been established.The whole system uses Microsoft .Net tool and Web Services to develop and realize the related module. Database systems use Microsoft's SQL SERVER2000 for development, as its support to high-performance transaction processing, security, integrity control, as well as advantages such as portability, compatibility and connectivity would ensure the establishment of a secure and reliable database.The detailed realization of the main module is given in the final part of this paper. The text focuses on the implementation of Web Services and the main users' operation competence and methods. The design code of the main part of the interface and the statement is covered in this part.Over one year's effort, the system has been successfully applied to the educational management. Its stable operation greatly improves the efficiency and was praised by users unanimously.However, due to the urgent design time, in the actual design of the module, customized adaptive function has not been realized, and the redundancy of database design and security also demand further improvement.
