In electronic products design, there are all kinds of Polarity parts that control the electric current direction or logic, such as diode, transistor or IC. These kinds of parts have the special direction on the Product Circuit Board. They are placed on PCB by SMT machine through machine rotation system. If it be placed wrong, the PCB can't work normally. It is famous rotation issue.Most process engineers spent so much time to adjust part rotation on line when they cut over line from one model to the other one. And rotation issue is always out of control during the mass production. When the issue affect the quality was found by final customs, we lost not only money, but also our reputation. The challenge of us is how to solve this issue from root.Productivity and quality are customer need of mass production factory always, such as Motorola TJ hand phone manufacturing base. Not only rotation issue is quality issue, but also it affects productivity. So it is hard issue for whole SMT field.This paper addresses the system solution of Fuji machines Rotation issue through Part Data standardization and material control. We use six steps problem solving process towards customer valued improvements in the performance of our product. We takes the typical problem solving step further by trying to prevent problems before they occur and providing opportunities to share our result across groups, sectors, and the Corporation in our Enterprise.Rotation issue system solution belongs to application category. Because it is valuable in whole SMT field, we won Motorola TFE showcase golden award in PCS. We attended Motorola worldwide TFE showcase and share our experience as world-class process.
