The development of mobile communication changes quickly. As one of the three standards of 3G in the world, WCDMA provides multimedia service and high bitrate digital services, and RLC layer provides data stream transfer service of different class QoS.Timing synchronization is one of the key technologies in digital communication. As a result, the research of RLC layer function and timing synchronization has important influence in theory research and realistic application.This paper includes two parts.The first part is the main body. It finishes research and realization of ciphering and error correcting function used in WCDMA RLC layer, presents the realization scheme of ciphering and error correct function, describes the module, presents the method of testing, analyzes the testing results.The second part is minor.It finishes the simulation and FPGA realization of timing synchronization.Firstly, the first part analyzes the development of WCDMA.Then it introduces some knowledge of Win CE 5.0 embedded OS, decribes the process of building Platform Builder emulator in detail, and deeply discusses the protocol related to ciphering and error correct function in RLC layer. The achievement and innovation of this part is combining protocol with algorithm, it designs the module to accomplish ciphering and error correcting function, tests in Platform Builder according to innovated testing method and analyzes the testing results. In ciphering part, it presents the process and algorithm of ciphering,defines data structure,gives out innovative method to store datas in link.This paper uses the realization method based on procedure,divides the whole function part into small parts.In ciphering testing part, it tests ciphering function independently,and then tests ciphering function in RLC layer. In error correct part, considering both ARQ principle and protocol parameter, it brings forward the SR-ARQ scheme which delays status PDU, designs the transmiting and receiving modules.In error correct testing part,combining testing with event function of Win CE,this paper illustrates the testing method and analyzes the testing results.The second part designs the circuit and modules of timing synchronization.This paper provides many realization methods for development of link control protocol, security protocol, ARQ protocol and timing synchronization.
