RFID(Radio Frequency Identification), as an automatic identification system, is developed with the maturity of large scale integration of circuits. It is a comprehensive rising subject area. RFID chips have advantages of high volume, high security, high interference resistance, short recognition time as time as well as low cost, so RFID chips have very good application foregrounds. Compared with traditional IC cards, RFID has more extensive applications for its communication with radio frequency and its untouched characteristic. In the beginning of the paper, the concept of radio frequency technology, development, classification, field and prospect were introduced. After that, the principle of radio frequency technology and protocol were focused, with ISO/IEC 18000-6 part: Type A and Type B in detail. Then Type B was chosen for this project after comparison.Following the above content, the whole digital system of RFID tag was discussed and clarified each module, mainly including encoder, decoder, CRC, FSM, write/read to/from eeprom modules and so on. Accomplish the function with verilog HDL, and then download to FPGA to validate it.After certified as correct, synthesis with Design Compiler(DC) and Design Analyzer(DA) of Synopsys, analyze verilog HDL ,then map them with a model and optimize,at last, to map the logic to the cell in the target cell library according to constraints, and generate netlist at the same time. Finally, P&R (place and route) with Silicon Ensemble(SE) of Cadence, using the netlist and standard delay file generated by synthesis to floorplan, place cells and route, at last, tape out with the GDSII..
