The characteristics of reflective cholesteric liquid crystal display (CH-LCD) are small power consumption, save images a long time, light weight, portability and so on. It is the ideal electronic paper display devices. But it limited by the factors of slow response and high drive voltage. It has not been widely used. So the study of the reflective CH-LCD is a certain innovative and forward - looking. According to the characteristics of reflective CH-LCD and the phase transition principle of CH-LCD, A drive circuit driving for Color Ch-LCD has been designed. According to the up dating drive scheme with P state and cumulative drive schemes, we can drive the CH-LCD the Resolution which is 640×480 and the gray can reach 8. the circuit can achieve a multi-level gray display and color. the driver IC of LCD are used in the circuit, so the Features of the circuit are Simple structure, lower cost, easy to implement. On the platform built by Altera FPGA and Quartus II software, display device controlling program is compiled by VHDL (Very High Speed Hardware Description Language), with LVDS (Low Voltage Differential Signal) induced. Then real time hardware circuit is constructed after designing and producing the PCBs. To address the high-voltage drive hardware problem, we use PDP (Plasma Display Panel) drive IC which can withstand the high voltage. Due to lack of time, Ultimately, In a 5×5 pixels small screen, we complete the verification of our design plan. For the realization of the entire screen of the drive to lay a good foundation.
