As the3th generation displays, OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) has theincomparable advantages with LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) because of its activeluminous, fast response, high brightness, and the Angle of view, dc low voltagesolid-state drive, and are less vulnerable to the environmental impact excellentproperties, and has wide application prospectsin mobile phones, digital cameras, carshow, notebook computer, TV and military areas hanging.However,most of theexisting driver chips are for more PM-OLED (Passive Matrix OLED),and only a fewdriver chips are designed for AM-OLED (Active Matrix OLED).even so,most of thedisplay is for some characters, Numbers, or some simple graphics or animation, this isnot enough people to the expectations of the OLED displays and failed to show theadvantage of OLED also. some foreign companies have developed a large sizeAM-OLED full-color display, but its technical scheme has not been publicly.This paper is on the basis of previous researches, firstly introduces the workprinciple and driving way, then analyses the OLED gray modulation mode, and thecommonly used digital gray modulation mode, their advantages and disadvantages arediscussed. Based on study of sub-frames principle and pulse width modulation mode,and put forward the sub-frames principle modulation achieve16gray level, and thenpulse width modulation realization to achieve a level256gray-scale. This way canreduce the working frequency of the system. Finally, based on640×480true colorAM-OLED screen display drivers systematic is given with DVI digital decoderchip,and analyzes the working process of the some part of the main modules role ofthe system.At last, based on FPGA technology of Altera company, design the AM-OLEDtrue color display driver and control circuit with Verilog HDL description language,and then the module of the system is simulated in DE2-115development board.Modelsim simulation results show that this scheme can achieve the intended target,and achieve640×480color AM-OLED screen level256grayscale display.
