Design Of PDP Display Drive Circuits

Plasma Display Panel(PDP)is one of the latest flat panel display devices which is under rapid development and application. PDP is praised for its large screen size, wide viewing angle, thinness, high contrast, long life time. etc and being a promising candidate for high resolution digital TV and public display application. The work of this paper acquires the support of National 863 Project"High-Voltage driver module", which provides sufficient work conditions for the study and design of PDP driving system.Focused on the application of PDP drive IC, This paper analyses the diagram of PDP driving system and associated circuit technology. Then the paper introduces the structure of object mono-PDP and its driving waveform. Based on the theoretical analysis, the drive and control circuit has been developed. Adopting the PDP drive IC designed by we own, the circuit system achieves the test and driving of target PDP.The first chapter introduces the develop history of PDP and summarizes hot issues in PDP drive system research field. At the following, the paper analysis the main functions and structure of PDP drive system and introduces the design method of each circuit, besides this part the paper also introduces the circuit structure and developing tendency of PDP driver IC. As the emphasis of the paper, the third chapter firstly describes the cell structure of object mono-PDP and display discharge drive method, and then introduces the driving circuit system diagram and the design of each part of the system in details. The design of digital logic which is the key control circuit of PDP driving system is described in the forth chapter. The paper gives the simulation waveforms and FPGA synthesis reports. At the end, the paper introduced circuit debugging result. The circuit system introduced in this paper has generated the expectative drive waveform successfully and drives the target PDP displaying.The work of the paper have realized the main functions of PDP driving system such as display image data processing, ADS driving control, high-voltage drive pulse generation and successfully driving the object PDP display. It not only deepens the understanding of IC designer to PDP circuit system, but also provided a platform to test PDP drive IC. It is also the basis for the following PDP driving circuit research.
