The Design Of A Layer-2 Switch

This topic developed a managable layer-two gigabit ethernet switch. The switch has functions not only layer-two switch but also network management, VLAN management, QoS management, trunk management etc. The switch can be used as a high-performance gigabit Lan access equipment, and it can also be used as department-level convergence layer switch. The product also makes up Beijing VANLINK Communications Technologies, Inc. Gigabit Ethernet Switch product line in the blank.This essay divided into three sections included five chapters. The first part included two chapters, which mainly introduce the major work on the subject and the background research. The second part included the requirements analysis and the design selection. The last section included two chapters. The first one included the detailed hardware design of the switch. The second one included the hardware test and functional test.In this paper, the issues involved, I completed the development independently. The product VLSW2550 switch has completed all testing including compatibility tests.
