In this thesis,the technology of ATM network and the development history and popularity reason of Gigabit Ethernet are explained,and the advantages and shortcoming about ATM network and Gigabit Ethernet are analyzed,and then it is made clear that the old library network can not be unfit for the development of our digital library。And thus it come to a conclusion,the old ATM network must be promoted to Gigabit Ethernet network。A composite and single core network structure,which based on analyzing the old ATM network,Gigabit Ethernet,VLAN technology,VLAN Trunk protocol,3-layer switch technology,is presented with ATM and Gigabit Ethernet。In that analysis,about Gigabit Ethernet,its communication protocol ,communication ,physics link,run parameter and performance are set forth,and for VLAN technology it is chiefly discussed about its partition and information transferring mode between VLANs。For 3-layer switch it is concretely analyzed that its base mode and matter,and illustrated about the theory and character of 3-layer switch equipments。The new network has two advantages,the quondam equipments are recycled and it has been achieved from the old network to the Gigabit Ethernet network smoothly。And then the compatibility of ATM network and Gigabit Ethernet network,the setups of VLAN and the application of VLAN Trunk protocols are illustrated detailedly。At last the peculiarities and superiority of the new network are summed up,and the security of the network must be attended when the network is promoted at next time。...
