With the development of the Technology of sensor, compute and wireless communication, more and more devices integrating sensor, communication and processing have been invented and manufactured to accomplish information collection, data process and wireless communication. Wireless Sensor Network consisting of lots of sensor nodes came into being and had been applied in a lot of scenarios and situations.Wireless Sensor Network(WSN) is one of most important new technologies in the future. Its development and extensive applications will have great impact on and get tremendous promotion of human social life and industrial renovation. And compared with familiar wireless networks such as Mobile Communication Network, Wireless Local Area Network, Bluetooth Network, Ad-hoc Network etc, WSN has a lot new properties and many research hotspots.Wireless Sensor Network(WSN) uses wireless communication to collect and process useful data from a particular area. So, it is a important research topic to collect and process data in an energy-efficient manner to guarantee the maximum life-time of WSN, which is named as energy problems. In the paper, we combine energy problems with communication protocols which is another research hotspot of WSN. Our research lays emphases on energy-efficient communication protocols, which mainly include some improvements on Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy(LEACH) protocol.In recent years, there are a lot wireless communication protocols which are presented for WSN.LEACH protocol is one of them, and it is a self-organized,adaptive,energy-efficient and clustering network protocol. Which accounts for properties of WSN and prolongs the life-time of WSN efficiently. But the mechanism of stochastic Cluster-Heads selection in LEACH protocol isn't optimal, which can't guarantee the proper position of Cluster-Heads and doesn't account for energy of Cluster-Head left. So it would lead to the energy of Cluster-Head exhausted and reduce the life-time of network wholly.So, in the paper we present some modifications of LEACH protocol as follows:1. After a round operation finished of the LEACH, we should statistic all kinds of data on the sensor, including the number of periods the sensor has been in use for, the expected periods the sensor must be operational for, the current battery capacity, the average power consumed in a round, and so on.2. In order to enhance the expansion of wireless sensor network, we should distribute the sensor nodes evenly. If this, the distance that from the Cluster-Head to Sink must be not too far so the Cluster-Head can avoid the quick death. So we will divide the network to small regions to avoid the sensor nodes met in a fixed area.Finally, the simulation results show that the improved LEACH protocol can extend the life-time of the network and increase the survival rate of the sensor nodes.
